ART SERIES

The act of burning a painting is a radical gesture, reinforcing impermanence as a central theme. The painting, an object of labor and expression, is given over to fire, emphasizing the fleeting nature of artistic creation, life, and even our connection to nature. In Buddhist and Indigenous philosophies, fire is often associated with the impermanence of existence nothing is fixed, and all things are in flux. These concepts align with my ongoing engagement with ecological consciousness, wherein destruction is not an end but part of a cyclical process of transformation. As the painting burns, the work ceases to exist as an object and instead becomes heat, light, and ash an alchemical transformation that mirrors humanity’s evolving consciousness in relation to nature.
