Micro Lens Series is an ongoing body of work acutely concerned with process and materiality, and the universal patterns that emerge through them. The series zooms in on intricate details of the paint’s behaviour and natural expressions, capturing how the medium responds to its unique circumstances and conditions. Underpinned by the conceptual framework of Circle Culture, the series explores themes of oneness, duality, and the infinite through close observation of paint in motion.
The concept of Processing Paint delves into the micro-workings of Paint Behaviour through macro photography. Subject to universal forces of Nature — such as gravity, viscosity, evaporation, chemical reaction and flow — revealing forms that echo ancient and cross-cultural visual languages embedded in human consciousness. Our eyes act as visual translators to the mind. A small fragment of a paint study becomes an expansive image, where scale dissolves and the material begin to resemble planetary terrains, cosmic formations, or elemental landscapes, inviting memory and associations.
These images draw attention to processes that are both intimate and universal, offering a glimpse into the generative forces that underpin the artist’s wider practice. In this way, the series reveals how the smallest gestures of material behaviour can resonate with the enduring visual languages humanity has used for millennia to contemplate connection, cycle, and belonging.
