Portal is an ephemeral night performance set within a sheoak grove our family calls The Fairy Forest. A solitary spotlight figure enters the forest alone, activating the space between childhood imagination and adult perception.

The work explores how early psychological imprints shape our relationship with the unknown, balancing curiosity with fear, fantasy with vulnerability. Within the shifting darkness of the forest, the body a vessel moving between memory, myth, and lived experience.

Collapse in Yellow, although visually poetic, confronts industrial monoculture — a totalising field where diversity is eliminated in favour of efficiency and yield. The yellow expanse is both spectacle and warning: a landscape engineered to produce at the cost of life once held there.

Emerging within a moment of geopolitical fracture, the work reflects on fuel insecurity and the redirection of agricultural land into energy systems. The same land is asked to feed, fuel, and sustain — intensifying extraction under the guise of resilience. The seductive brilliance of yellow operates as a subtle disquiet, drawing the viewer toward a surface that appears abundant, optimistic, and benign. In this sense, the aesthetic functions as a form of packaging or veneer, reflecting how industrial agriculture is often normalised through images of productivity and prosperity while obscuring the ecological complexity and loss beneath.

The work suggests that humanity’s relationship with these systems is not external but complicit; we are participants in and beneficiaries of the very processes we may question. Overlaying the work, the ticking clocks of Parliament operate as a rhythm misaligned with ecological reality. There is no outside position: humanity is implicated within a closed planetary system where consequence circulates without exit.
